At the first question, I'd have responded with a follow-up question "how often is it important for a Vue developer on your team to understand this?" And then I'd have asked "do you often encourage your developers to spend time learning the intimate details of things not required for their day-to-day jobs when they could be learning things more directly related to their actual tasks?"
