Honestly, if I found myself on a team that thought Singletons were acceptable to have in the codebase, I'd work to try to create a plan to get them removed and convince the team to implement it. I wouldn't care what they were called. If I couldn't get the team to agree in a reasonable time, I'd start looking for a new job.
