I disagree with your conclusion. One thing that's happened increasingly since the 70s is automation. So a lot of the growth in the economy isn't generated by earners, but by machines. IMO, this is the best argument for UBI. If there's less work to go around, it doesn't make sense to mandate that everyone has to have a job in order to not starve.
