I think I was lucky in that I picked up OO in ActionScript, where functions were first-class citizens. So my OO always had elements of FP in it.

But don't beat yourself up. I bet your understanding of FP is as good as 90% of devs out there. The difference is you *know* there are holes in your understanding.
