I think the only thing you can do is either tailor your resume or write cover letters that highlight how the things on your resume line up with the buzzwords. You can try to explain why certain things are equivalent on the call, but in the end it comes down to how good you are at getting nontechnical people to understand the technicalities and also how willing they are to hear that.
