I used to live in rural Mississippi. I had to leave because I felt like my neighbors kept voting against their best interests and didn't have the character to stop doing that. I came back to MS in 2020 and I'll leave as soon as there is nothing holding me here anymore. I see Mississippi as that friend or relative everyone has that's so deep in self-destructive behavior there's no reaching them. The problem with your plan is you're asking everyone to go live in a dysfunctional relationship.
