I would definitely agree I can afford pretty much an infinite tax on Apple products since I have never bought one and never expect to.

But I think that the situation with taxes is more complicated than you portray it. The "official" tax rate in the US is not what corporations really pay--there are all kinds of loopholes that let them pay less. But even if it were, having higher corporate taxes changes their behavior in ways that are good for the economy. For example, if there's a tax hit to taking profit, many accountants will advise putting the money into a capital expense that will be depreciated. This creates demand for capital goods, which drives jobs.
