If someone's hiring an automation coach, they have already decided it's worthwhile to do. Also, interns usually aren't tasked with important feature work, so they often have more freedom on what they can work on.

If you have 5 test suites that don't run that you have time to work on once a month at best, then really the best you can do is try to bring them on line one at a time--which becomes impossible if Chrome keeps breaking the login that needs to happen before any test can run.
