In tech, many people don't stay in a job for 2 years anyway. So giving people longer than the usual tenure to work it out may not make sense.

OTOH, this whole thing would be lots more straightforward if people didn't starve or go homeless if they don't have work (so how suited they are for a given job may matter less to them than that they have a roof over their heads).
