Interesting article. I've been saying what you said about the constant technology churn (it provides a place for crappy devs to hide until they're ready to get a 20% increase by changing to another job that has no idea what's about to hit them) for the better part of a decade.
React told exactly the lies about its competitors that people are telling about React now, so cry me a river if what went around is finally coming around to React. I think the problem isn't that React is unopinionated--it has become _very_ opinionated. However, if you follow the opinions, you will create something that's very hard to maintain and not at all performant.
