It may not be fair to pick on this one guy. It's been a problem in the industry for as long as I can remember for some young guy (this might be sexist, but tell me I'm wrong) to make a name for himself inventing really complex solutions to simple problems and then have everyone fall over waving their legs at his "genius" (because only a genius can understand such a convoluted solution, much less create it).
