I've often wondered why publications do what they do, but in the end I don't care. What I'm after with a publication is to get my ideas out before a wider audience--MY ideas, not some mangled version of them after "editing." So I shopped around until I found one that's willing to put my ideas out there without "interpreting" them. Occasionally I send out an article that doesn't have the depth I associate with CodeX out to a different publication.
