My experience is this question is far above the capability of most interviewees. I usually use “Imagine you have a parent container and a child container. The parent can flex vertically and horizontally based on the window size. The child can have a variable size based on its content. How would you center the child in the parent?” I’m usually happy with something that suggests they’d be able to find the right resources to look it up.
