My mom started falling, and _not one_ doctor or nurse involved in her care suggested a walker. My sister was resistant to adding a night-time caregiver for financial reasons. We wound up having to put my mom into memory care after too many falls and head bumps made it impossible for us to care for her at home, even if we had been able to reliably get 24/7 caregivers.
If your loved one starts falling, GO TO THE DRUG STORE AND BUY THEM A WALKER and get them used to using it while they still have the mental capacity--it will help them keep that capacity by keeping their head off the floor! And it is WAY cheaper to have one caregiver at night that is able to, again, keep your LO's head off the floor than needing 24/7 caregivers or having to put them in assisted living.
