The article I posted said that in a lot of States, less than 5 % of people who qualify for TANF are getting it. That means kids going hungry. And it's nuts to think that it makes sense for parents and other caregivers to go to work, then spend most of their paychecks paying others to do their family obligations.

You don't say if when your marriage was "on the rocks" you walked out on just your spouse or also kids. But clearly you were not discharging any familial obligations.
