The problem when you join a team that has 20 tests that haven't run in 2 years is you have to sneak in any work you do on tests in between feature work. If you constantly are having to fix the tests because last time you could sneak was a couple of weeks after the last update, then you're not going to be able to make enough progress to prove how much time good tests would save you. Keep in mind that not everyone has the privilege to work on greenfield projects or projects where everyone is on board with the value of testing. Don't be so smug...

I'm also pretty sure there have been 3 Chrome versions since mid December.
