This is so bizarre. If someone wants to describe their life partner as a partner, let them. Why does the sexual orientation that obscures from your view matter to you? I actually feel really sad for you that you can't care about people if you don't know the intimate details of their life. I guess this attitude goes a long way to explain why in this society people won't mask to protect elderly and immunocompromised people they don't know, healthcare providers they will never meet but are exhausted, etc.

Stay sleeping, my friend. When you don't have to care about people based on just their humanity itself, you don't ache for the callousness all around you.
