Well put! Another way to put it is "you get good at what you practice," and if you practice putting together beginner-level code quickly, then that's what you'll be good at. The sad part is that most employers almost force developers to stay at that stage, because it's common to think that time spent learning to do things a different way is just wasted. It may slow things down a little, at first, but the speed gains in the long term more than make up for it. Practice making the best-crafted software you can figure out how to do!
